Seven days. A Hackney kitchen studio. A small group of people who love food as much as you do.
This is an immersive creative week in Uyen Luu's studio in Hackney, east London — where award-winning cookbook author, food writer and photographer Uyen Luu will teach you to cook Vietnamese food from scratch, find and tell your own food stories, and photograph food with real feeling and intention.
You don't need to be a writer or a photographer. You just need to love food and be ready to surprise yourself.
By the end of the week you'll have cooked dishes you'll make for the rest of your life, written something you're genuinely proud of, and taken photographs that look nothing like what you'd normally shoot.
What the week covers
Vietnamese cooking — techniques, flavour balancing, recipes from all four of Uyen's cookbooks
Food writing — finding your voice, telling stories through food, memoir and recipe writing
Food photography — light, composition, styling, shooting on your phone or camera
Market visits and ingredient sourcing in east London
Shared meals together every day — because eating is how you learn
